Purim Play and Prep

Purim Dress-ups

Since learning about the Purim story, so many Kindergarten friends have been playing with the dress-up clothes and acting out the story. Last week we were so lucky to have Fourth grade visit our class to put on a Purim show for us, with costumes and all.

Everybody has been getting into the Purim spirit.

The visiting Purim Performance!!

We were such a good audience, the play was so funny!!

Haman wanted everybody to bow down to him

Mordechai prayed to Hashem

Mishloach Manot

One of the mitvos of Purim is to give Mishloach Manot (or shalach manos) which is 2 food items to a friend.
We practised sorting the appropriate items (only food which is 'ready to eat) and then played a messenger game, delivering the basket of food to a friend in the circle.
It is a little bit like duck duck goose, everybody had fun playing the game and we were all happy to our friends when they got a turn.

On Friday we took home the illustrated megillah we made and decorated in class; together with the shalach manos we received from Morah Dawn & Morah Sharon.

Each Shalach Manos had an individual photo on it of what we wore on crazy hat day!!

Everybody waited patiently while each friend was called up to receive theirs.

Birthday Flashbacks

Happy Birthday to our Kindergarten Friends AND DR. SUESS!!

We enjoyed celebrating the birthdays of ARIELLA N, MENACHEM, ETHAN and LEORA in the months of Adar 1 and Adar 2. It was wonderful to have our special guests join in the party.
We wish Mazel Tov to all those students, we had fun looking at your baby pictures to see how much you have grown and were so excited to give you birthday wishes.

We also celebrated the Birthday of Dr. Suess!! We made special hats and attended an assembly where we heard Dr. Suess Books and also joined with First grade to hear more favorites. See the individual birthday photos of each ADAR party below the pictures of Dr Suess birthday activities.

Happy Birthday Ariella!!

We enjoyed looking at the photos of Ariella when she was a baby. Birthdays celebrate the time you were born so many years ago so it is nice to look back and see what you looked like when you were so little and compare it with how much you have grown now. Ariella thought of so many things she can do now that she could not do when she was so small. After looking at the photos, we played freeze dance, gave tzedakah, said torah pesukim and gave birthday wishes before having the yummy cupcakes and showing Ariella her card.

Happy Birthday Menachem!!

Thank you so much to Mrs Eiloz for reading us 'Tissue Please' during Menachems birthday party. What great timing that Literacy Month and Menachems party were around the same time. After the story we all  played freeze dance, saw baby photos of Menachem, gave tzedakah, said Torah pesukim and read out his card before singing happy birthday and eating the cupcakes. What a fun day!!

Happy Birthday Ethan!!

Even though Ethans Mom just had a baby 4 weeks prior, his parents came in to join the birthday fun. Ethan had a party the same day as our Dr Suess birthday celebration. Look out for our special Dr Seuss birthday hats - it was a double birthday party day.  Just like all our birthdays, we  played freeze dance, saw baby photos of Ethan, gave tzedakah, said Torah pesukim and then ate the yummy cupcakes and sang happy birthday.

Happy Birthday Leora!!

Everybody in Kindergarten worked together to create Leoras special birthday card. Each student decorated a small picture and signed their name and it was attached to her card. Some of the pictures were of birthday wishes for the coming year. It was  lovely to see how thoughtful everybody was.
We played all the birthday games and activities including giving tzedakah and birthday blessings and saying Torah pesukim. Leora helped to hand out the cupcakes. They were delicious!!
