Kindergarten celebrated Sam's Birthday!! Each child had the opportunity to wish Sam a birthday wish and he gave his friends and special bracha. We then gave tzedakah, danced around our birthday boy and ate delicious cupcakes. Thank you to Sam's Grandmother, Mom and brother for celebrating with us!

Reading and Writing Centers
Below Kindergarten is doing Language Arts in their differentiated centers. Depending on where they are in reading, children are either working on short or long vowels. They fill in the missing letter with a red pencil and sound out the words. As they go along, they check the picture in the book to make sure they are correct.
After, they repeat this step, and then lastly try using the pictures in the book and try and write out the word correctly using the long vowel rules.
Below the students are working on sentence building. They each have a card with a sentence. They match the words on the colored pieces with the ones on the card and then read the sentences they created. Lastly, they write out the sentence for practice.

Plants
Kindergarten is learning all about plants. We learned about their major parts like the roots, stem, flower and leaves. We also learned about what each part does to help the plant.
Kindergarten acted like roots by drinking water through a straw. We also created pictures divided into four parts to illustrate the life cycle of a plant...seeds, sprout, small flower and adult flower. Kindergarten even got to plant our very own seeds. We made sure to water them and put them in an area that got sunlight. The faces were priceless when each child saw sprouts and then actual plant!

Prospect Park Zoo!!
Kindergarten along with Rabbi Naftoli's class went to the Prospect Park Zoo. Rabbi Naftoli's students partnered up with kindergarten to make sure they were extra safe. They also added their knowledge of the things we saw as we went a long.
We had the opportunity to see various animals as well as sit through a workshop learning about characteristics of mammals. The children had an educational and wonderful time!
