Kindergarten started a new unit in math...shapes! We first learned all about shapes that were flat such a circle, triangle, rectangle, diamond, heart, pentagon and more. We talked about how many sides each shape has and how many corners. We compared shapes such as squares and rectangles and discussed their similarities and differences. The children created the shapes from various items in the room.
We also learned about 3 dimensional shapes such a cubes, cylinders, pyramids, spheres and more! The children know these shapes are not flat. The children went on a scavenger hunt in the room to find items with these shapes to create our inspiration table. They are constantly adding items to the table and playing with it. They even labeled the shapes.
