The 100th Day of School!

Kindergarten has been counting up to the 100th day of school since school began in September. We used a special number chart that has also taught us place value.

We met first thing in the morning for an assembly. Morah Kathy read a poem about the number 100. Then we gave the children various tasks such as jump and hop 100 times, bop their nose 100 times.

After the assembly we returned to our classroom where we did various activities having to do with the number 100! Below the children made 100 Day hats.

Below we had the opportunity to explore and make the number 100 out of many different things such as blocks from our block center, beans, popcorn kernels, raw pasta, cheerios, Popsicle sticks and more.

Below the children lined fruit loops or Cheerios along a 100 chart. They were able to create patterns, sort by color, etc. After they counted by 10's with Morah Dawn and were able to put the cereal on a licorice lasso for a delicious treat for later.

Below we dip dotted a number chart as we counted each number

The fun didn't end there. We baked a cake and added 100 chocolate chips into the batter and enjoyed it for a yummy afternoon snack.

With the feet the children sent in, we placed them on the wall, along with feet from the first and second graders which totaled 100!

Hooray for being 100 days smarter!
