Model Matzah Bakery

On Monday 7th April, Mazel Day School took classes to the Model Matzah Bakery!!

When we arrived, we watched a demonstration about how flour is made. Students were chosen as volunteers to cut the wheat stalks, shell the kernels and blow the chaff away, then grind it into flour.

A water boy and flour girl were selected. They each poured their ingredients into the mixing bowl and the mixing volunteer helped to make the matzah dough.

Everybody then got very busy rolling and shaping their matzah.

While we were waiting for the matzah to bake in under 18 minutes, we watched a show about the 10 plagues from the Pesach story. Some of the kindergarten friends were able to act in the show and even got dressed up. It was a fantastic excursion!!
