Hanwriting Without Tears

In kindergarten, we use the Handwriting Without Tears program for writing. It is a fun, interactive and educational way to learn how to form letters. We started off with a small mini lesson at the rug and had friends demonstrate on the board. The program comes with a CD that plays songs with verbal directions of how to form the letter. The children loved dancing and forming letters in the air to it. Morah then divided us into centers. One center was a card with the letter we learned. The children took wooden pieces to  create and trace the letter. The other centers were workbooks, magnetic boards and chalk boards. We have magnetic pieces we use on the board to form the letter. The chalk boards are used to create the letter with chalk, reform by tracing with a wet sponge and finally retrace by wiping the "wet" letter with a dry paper towel. What a fun and hands on way to learn!
