Understanding and Counting Teens

In math, Morah first reviewed how to form our number. We say:
1-2-3-4 all face the same way
5-6 are in a mix
7-8-9-10 phew...back in line again
This helps the children remember that the numbers all face the same way except for 5 & 6.

Below the children are learning how to use Montessori teen hangers and beads to understand the concept of teen numbers. We first place a line of beads that total 10 on a hook. On the hook next to it we place one bead...this makes 11. The children continue this idea through 19.
