Number Order Fun

In our math unit we are learning the order of numbers, writing numbers correctly and knowing if a number comes before or after a certain number. Morah put a number line on the floor and put a yellow box around a certain number. Then I had a student count out that amount of markers and place it under the boxed number. I also had students come to the number line and answer questions such as is that number in the box smaller or larger then a given number.

After we played Celebrity Heads. A student came up and sat on a chair. Morah wrote a number above their head in a box. They were not allowed to look at the number but was able to ask their friends is the secret number larger or smaller then the number they asked. As the children answered and the range of numbers got smaller, Morah moved the yellow boxes on the number line closer until the secret number was guessed.
